Operation Night Owl | |
On Thursday 12th MARCH, Leominster Safer Neighbourhood Team undertook their 4th joint partner working operation with colleagues from Dyfed Powys Police. This activity went on throughout the evening, night and morning. This operation enables a more targeted approach with more patrols in preventing and deterring rural crime that continues to blight our communities. Between the forces, we had 18 double crewed marked and unmarked cars and though the weather was dreadful here is a taster of what happened on shift: 1 stolen vehicle was recovered with the driver being dealt with by police accordingly for that, along with having no licence and insurance. Another vehicle was recovered for no insurance whilst another for no tax. Drivers were reported accordingly for those offences and vehicles seized. Officers attended incidents relating to suspicious activity in our rural areas during which disturbed a vehicle that had information to rural crime. This vehicle did fail to stop for police but given the dreadful weather and risk, officers did not engage, enquiries are ongoing regarding this matter. Officers also arrested a person on suspicion of drug driving and had a positive stop search of drugs. We look forward to our next one!
